Brandy = Cognac? 

Wrong! It would be more correct to say "Cognac is a type of brandy".

Basically, any alcoholic beverage distilled from fruits can be called brandy. Generally speaking, the brandy we talk about refers to the distillation of wine. In addition, there are also apple brandy Calvados, apricot brandy, etc.

If it is French (Cognac) brandy, it must meet the following specifications:

1.Produced in the Cognac region of France
2.90% of the raw material grapes must be Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, Colombard, Montils or Sémillon
3.Must be double distilled using a copper still
4.Must be aged in French oak barrels for at least two years
